Bicycle Business Profit Margin in India: What Drives Your Margin

By October 16, 2026October 20th, 2026No Comments

People ask what profit margin a bicycle business makes. No honest source can give one figure, because margin depends on how you run the shop. What you can do is understand what moves it.

What drives margin

  • Product mix: kids’ cycles, geared cycles and accessories each carry different margins.
  • Stock turns: a model that sells in a month earns more over a year than one that sits for six.
  • Service and spares: repairs, tubes, tyres and accessories bring steady income and repeat visits.
  • Costs: rent, staff, electricity and the interest on stock you hold.
  • Season: sales rise around school openings, summer holidays and festivals.

How to estimate yours

Take a model’s dealer price and your planned selling price, subtract your share of rent, staff and other costs, and then check how many you can realistically sell each month. Do this for your top five models. This is more useful than a number from a blog.

Where the manufacturer matters

A direct manufacturer relationship means fewer middlemen between you and the factory, and faster reorders on models that sell. Ask for the dealer price list and run the numbers yourself.
